Kym Valentines's Collapse Caused a Neighbours Headache Colin Vickery | Herald Sun 21 November 2008
WHEN Kym Valentine collapsed on a flight from the US to Australia on July 4, it caused a big headache for Neighbours producers. Enter Michala Banas.
it was the final straw in a year from hell for the Neighbours star.
Her five-year marriage to singer-songwriter Fabio Tolli had recently ended and rumours of a relationship with Underbelly star Vince Colosimo had surfaced.
That had supposedly caused major tension on the Neighbours set because Colosimo was going through a separation from Valentine's co-star Jane Hall.
A stressed Valentine sought refuge in the US during a production break, but fell sick in New York. Everything unravelled on the flight home. She had oxygen administered by cabin staff after she lost consciousness. She went to hospital on her return and was diagnosed with pneumonia and a collapsed lung.
Doctors told her she needed total rest for at least a month -- she couldn't return to Neighbours. That left Neighbours executive producer Susan Bower in one heck of a predicament.
MICHALA'S ROMANCE FIX The latest issue of the Australian TV Week covering 8-14 November 2008 has a double page spread featuring an interview with Michala.
As a high profile young actress on McLeod’s Daughters, Michala suffered from acne for many years. She estimates she spent thousands of dollars rying out ifferent cures before finally discovering Proactiv Solution after seeing a TV advertisement four years ago.
The makeup artists on the set of McLeod’s Daughters noticed the difference in Michala’s skin within two weeks of her beginning Proactiv’s daily skincare routine.
Michala said “I thought buying something off television was a real long shot. Now I’m kicking myself, because had I discovered Proactiv earlier, it would have saved a lot of drama. I’ve had such wonderful results. Proactiv helps to keep my skin clear and ready for the camera.”

I distinctly remember when I got my first pimple. I was eleven years old, and it was two days before my school photos. After that first zit appeared, many followed, and by the time I reached my teens, I was suffering from embarrassing acne. Over the years I tried all kinds of 'remedies', went to ridiculous extremes, and visited many dermatologists. Nothing worked. It’s hard enough having acne on a day to day basis but to be an actress and to have your face on television every week - that made it even worse!
